Introduction to Murals by Rulan Geiger

During 1993 through 1995, Rulan spent three years doing murals in a New England mansion. The big stone house was built early in this century containing large fireplaces in all the primary living spaces. The dining and living rooms have 14 foot ceilings. Rulan worked with the owner's life style and interests. She combined the western and eastern traditional styles with the artist's inspiration to create dramatic and magnificent scenes for each room. There are very different subjects for each room. The entire house is a Rulan one artist show as her personal style flows throughout.

"Green color guest room"
Rulan bring the outside scene into the room. The trees flow into the ceiling and side of the window blending the outside and inside together. This room was done with acrylic paint directly on the wall.

"Peach Color Guest Room"
The roses and butterflies create a feminine atmosphere. This room was done with acrylic color on the wall.

"Dinning Room"
This room has fourteen feet ceiling and over five hundred square feet. The owner's family collected furniture from the 18th and 19th century China Trade. Rulan created a 19th century Canton city scene. She used antique silk mounted on the wall, then Chinese ink and color were painted on the silk.

"Living Room"
The ceiling of over six hundred square feet and fourteen feet in height contains one hundred sixty wood panels. Rulan created a very detailed pattern on the ceiling, then did a traditional Chinese garden scene on the wall. This room with basic green tones, is very delicate and quiet.

"Child's Room"
Rulan placed baseball stars from different periods together and use Fanway Park as the background. The figures are life size. This is acrylic on the wall.
